There was more to it: In her first year in the French Ski Association’s so-called “Excellence Group 2030”, the young biathlete Coralie Perrin was unable to achieve all of her goals. Nevertheless, looking back, she saw a lot of positive things.
At the beginning of last winter, Coralie Perrin had high hopes of taking the next step in her biathlon career after following top athletes such as Louise Roguet, Namou Candau-Armand, Lou-Anne Dupont Ballet-Baz and Lola Bugeaud in her preparation.
“I wanted to take part in the two Junior Cups in December and then in the Junior World Championships,” the 19-year-old revealed her ambitions in an interview with “Nordic Magazine”.
After being too weak in Bessans, Perrin was able to secure a place in the Junior Cup in Martell-Val Martello, Italy, at the last second in Les Saisies.
“I had a good feeling on the skis there, but I would have liked to have done a little better in shooting to be further ahead,” summed up the ski hunter, who took 13th place in the individual and 11th place in the sprint.
Biathlon hopeful Perrin draws a mediocre conclusion
The new year started off badly for Perrin when she missed qualifying for the Junior World Championships in several attempts.
“The girls’ level was high and balanced, and the placings were fiercely contested. The first races were complicated and ended with some disappointing results,” said the Frenchwoman self-critically.
Perrin continued: “I wasn’t able to position myself far enough ahead to secure my qualification, despite my great last race. That wasn’t enough for Arber, but I didn’t miss much.”
Her first season at national level ended just as mixed with a 23rd place in the mass start at the French championships in Prémanon in March. “Judging by my hard work in training, my results were not what I expected,” Perrin admitted.
