Norwegian biathlon superstar Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold had to undergo surgery. Cardiac arrhythmia forced the 28-year-old to undergo the procedure. The Norwegian Ski Association said this was successful.
Four-time biathlon world champion Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has undergone ablation therapy. During the minimally invasive procedure, a thin catheter was placed through the blood vessels directly to the heart on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Norwegian association. The heart tissue that causes the arrhythmia is specifically treated there.
The third-place finisher in the overall World Cup ranking for the winter of 2023/24 missed the race at the start of the season in Kontiolahti, Finland, and the 28-year-old completely missed the following World Cup stages in Hochfilzen and Annecy.
“I felt like I was in the safest hands and am incredibly grateful for the knowledge and care I received along the way,” said Tandrevold, commenting on her procedure.
She also posted a photo on Instagram on Sunday that showed her in the hospital. Franziska Preuß, Tirill Eckhoff, Tarjei Bö and Ida Lien, among others, left their well-wishes.
After Tandrevold was struck by heart problems after the third shooting in the short individual in Kontiolahti and had to completely give up her promising position in the race, there was a lot of speculation in the media about the ski hunter’s health. A circumstance that visibly upset Tandrevold.
Biathlon star Tandrevold complains about “false information”
“To everyone who asks how I’m doing: Thank you! I’m doing well, although of course I wish I was in Hochfilzen right now. I’ll keep you updated when I have new news,” Tandrevold wrote on her Instagram -Story.
The Norwegian further explained: “Because there is a lot of false information about my health being spread in the media these days, I want to say (again) that my cardiac arrhythmia is NOT DANGEROUS. You cannot compare different cardiac arrhythmias without knowing all the details . If you read anything about this, don’t believe it and trust me instead.”
The surgery should probably put an end to the problems.
