Johanna Puff surprised at the last European Biathlon Championships with two gold medals. In her private life she is happily in a relationship – with a familiar face.
In terms of sport, things have already gone very well for Johanna Puff this year: The native of Rosenheim sensationally won two gold medals for Germany at the European Championships in South Tyrol in January, first securing success in the individual thanks to error-free shooting, and then also triumphing in the relay. She will also be part of the German A squad in the 2025/2026 season.
And things are going well for the 23-year-old in her private life too: Puff is in a relationship with a well-known name from biathlon: the Italian Lukas Hofer is her partner. The two made their relationship public last year and had previously been seen together more often.
In an interview with “Sportnews.bz” at the time, Hofer revealed that they had been together “since around the end of last season”. The first pictures of the two together appeared on Instagram in spring 2024. Over the course of the summer, more and more photos followed – for example from training sessions together and a vacation in Malta. The 22-year-old last shared a video of the two of them in October 2025, which shows the couple laughing on a mountain peak.
Puff has also praised her partner’s support in the past. After completing her training with the federal police, she described Hofer as her “mental supporter.”
The South Tyrolean Hofer has been competing in biathlon for over 15 years, including winning bronze twice at the Olympic Games (2014 and 2018) and silver and bronze twice at the World Championships. Hofer also wants to take part again in the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
