Biathlon star becomes clear: “It’s very frustrating”

Tilda Johansson is one of Sweden’s biggest hopes in biathlon. The winter athlete is currently not in top condition, as she explained herself.

Before the Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof, the 23-year-old tested positive for Corona. After the infection, Johansson has to get back into top form.

“The body is still fighting and is very weak,” the Swedish broadcaster “SVT” quotes the biathlete from a post on Instagram. “I just want to say that I’m not myself right now and that’s very frustrating,” said Johansson.

Tilda Johansson has no chance in the biathlon sprint

Shortly before the end of the season, the Swede leads the overall rankings in the second-class IBU Cup. With 756 points, Johansson ranks ahead of the two French players Gilonne Guigonnat (708 points) and Paula Botet (683).

“At the moment most of it feels pointless and there is not much hope left in me. But I’m doing everything I can to give the body what it needs,” said Johansson before the past biathlon weekend in Canada Canmore.

The athlete showed great fighting spirit and competed in the sprint despite her health problems. In the end, however, Johansson was only 32. The Swede made just one mistake. But Johansson’s running form is far from being the same as before.

Biathlon: Decision in the IBU Cup is imminent

The overall victory will be decided next weekend in the IBU Cup in Canmore. Whether Johansson can defend her top position is uncertain.

The World Cup season in biathlon, on the other hand, continues until March 19th. The last three stops on the program are Nove Mesto (Czech Republic/March 2nd to 5th), Östersund (Sweden/March 9th to 12th) and Oslo (Norway/March 16th to 19th).
