Öberg works his way up

The shooting range continues to be very busy. Hanna Öberg is on her second shooting range and with five hits the Swede is now working her way up a few seconds. Wierer was at the third shooting and clears all targets for the second time in a row. It goes to the top for the time being, but soon Simon comes to the third shooting.

14:57

Häcki-Groß falls off

Today could be another difficult day for Lena Häcki-Groß. After she missed a disc in the prone position, two more errors came in the first standing position. At the start, Aita Gasparin was the next Swiss athlete to take to the track.

14:56

Hauser starts with mistakes

For her part, Lisa Theres Hauser starts shooting directly with a mistake. Where does she get that? 23rd place, 1:07 minutes behind. That’s where she comes under pressure!

14:55

Herrmann-Wick with five goals

Class! Denise Herrmann-Wick starts well and all five targets fall on her first prone stage. With only nine seconds and fifth place, she is in the fight for the medals. Teammate Sophia Schneider received her second penalty minute almost at the same time in the second shooting.

14:55

Persson is sticking with it

Linn Persson is undeterred and the Swede is the next athlete to clear both stages. She starts the next lap 5.8 seconds behind Vittozzi.

14:53

Vittozzi stays on course

Lisa Vittozzi, on the other hand, stays on course! The Italian also slammed the bullet in her first standing stage and took the lead after two stages, now 31 seconds ahead. She is still the leader at the first shooting.

14:52

Tandrevold shoots himself out

Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold shoots her way out of the decider! With three penalties on the second shooting and now four penalties, she has no chance of doing anything here. Anna Gandler has a mistake in the first standing stage.

14:51

Voigt with one mistake

For her part, Vanessa Voigt was at the first shooting, but fits into the long list of those who start directly with a mistake. At this point, Lisa Vittozzi continues to lead.

14:50

Simon in the standing stage

Julia Simon hits the target quickly in the standing position and at this point takes the lead in front of Wierer, who had also left the shooting range shortly before her with five hits. Eight athletes have already completed two shootings.

14:49

The last shot misses

Hanna Öberg has been doing well for a long time, but then the last shot of the favored Swede goes wide and she has to settle into seventh place for the time being. Lena Häcki-Groß does not come through without errors either. For her part, Davidova is already at the second shooting, but gets the second penalty minute there.

14:47

houses on the route

Lisa Theresa Hauser is the next athlete from the Austrian team to take to the track. So far it hasn’t been her world championships, but maybe that will change today in singles?

14:47

Schneider begins with mistakes

Unfortunately, Sophia Schneider is not included in this list. A disc stops in the first prone position of the DSV biathlete and she starts the next round in eleventh place.

14:46

Persson with five hits

Linn Persson is no slouch in the first prone and five hits put her in second place behind Vittozzi. 4.3 seconds are missing her to the front. Four out of 18 athletes have shot clean in the first shooting so far.

14:45

Herrmann-Wick started

Denise Herrmann-Wick has meanwhile also started her race. After two medals in the previous races, she should want to be in the front again today.

14:45

Vittozzi takes the lead

But now, with Lisa Vittozzi, one of the absolute top favorites hits the target! The Italian takes the shots very calmly. With a lead of 17.3 seconds, she takes the lead after the first shooting.

14:44

Many discs remain

Twelve athletes and a few favorites have now cleared the first shooting and it is still only Tolmacheva who could safely land all five rounds. Anna Gandler from the ÖSV team made a mistake and ranked fifth.

14:42

The first shot misses

And Julia Simon doesn’t manage to complete the first shooting without making a mistake either. The error comes with the first shot. Anastasia Tolmacheva of Romania completed the first clean shooting. She takes the lead after the first shooting. At the start, meanwhile, Vanessa Voigt is on her way as the next DSV starter.

14:41

Also Wierer with the error

Dorothea Wierer doesn’t get through the prone position without making mistakes either and gets a penalty minute straight away. Nevertheless, she takes the lead for the time being. But only four starters got through.

14:40

Hanna Öberg gets started

The next athlete from among the top favorites has started the 15 kilometers with Hanna Öberg. The 27-year-old was top in the sprint, but in the pursuit she struggled on the shooting range. It will be interesting to see how things are going there today. Immediately after her, Lena Häcki-Groß starts as the first Swiss woman.

14:40

The first shooting errors

Polona Klemenčič and Marketa Davidova were already at the first of four shooting stages and both athletes have a penalty minute on top of that. Wierer should soon arrive here as well.

14:38

Schneider started

Sophia Schneider was the first German to start in the individual. So far, the World Cup has gone together really well for her and today she wants to deliver a strong result again.

14:36

Simon sets the pace

Julia Simon sets the pace for the first split times. Second behind is Davidova in front of Wierer. Six athletes have already made it through here.

14:34

Gandler started

Anna Gandler was the first Austrian to take to the track with the starting number. However, the young starter is not one of the favorites. The next favorite, however, starts immediately after her with Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold. It will soon be Lisa Vittozzi’s turn as well.

14:33

The first favorite

Julia Simon is the first top favorite to start the race. The Frenchwoman is considered a reliable shooter and Simon can also set good times on the cross-country ski run. In the last individual in Ruhpolding she got on the podium. Dorothea Wierer is already on the way. It is certainly important to pay attention to them as well.

14:30

The race is on!

The women’s individual over the 15 kilometers has started and the first athlete is Polona Klemenčič from Slovenia on the route. Immediately after her, the defending champion Marketa Davidova will start the race.

14:26

The conditions

As in yesterday’s men’s individual race, the women will also be spoiled with lots of sunshine. The snow could be deep in some places, especially on later numbers.

14:20

What’s up for Swiss biathletes?

The biathletes from Switzerland were also not able to deliver the results at the World Championships that one had seen from them over the winter. Neither in the sprint nor in the pursuit did an athlete make it into the top 15. Lena Häcki-Groß with start number 19 will open for the Swiss women. Aita Gasparin (54), Elisa Gasparin (66) and Amy Baserga (94) are in the second part of the race.

14:16

Five ÖSV athletes

The Austrians must have hoped for more from the previous World Cup and the big result has not yet been possible. The individual could definitely suit Lisa Theresa Hauser as the stronger shooter. She’s going on the cross-country ski trail with start number 35 today. Young star Anna Gandler is already in demand with starting number eight. Dunja Zdouc (51), Anna Juppe (75) and Tamara Steiner (92) complete the squad from Austria.

14:11

Six German starters

Due to the new quota rules of the world association IBU, the German team is allowed to send six athletes to the start in today’s individual. The squad is led by Denise Herrmann-Wick, who certainly has every opportunity to celebrate her third medal at these World Championships today. The DSV starter has already won gold in the sprint and silver in the pursuit. Herrmann-Wick starts today with start number 31. Sophia Schneider, who has run a great World Championships so far, will be the first German athlete to start the 15 kilometers with number 16. New to the team is Anna Weidel, who will run at the back of the field with start number 89. Vanessa Voigt (23), Hannah Kebinger (62) and Janina Hettich-Walz (68) complete the German team.

14:06

Røiseland renounced

On the other hand, Marte Olsbu Røiseland is not at the start. The Norwegian skips the hard individual and concentrates on the upcoming competitions during this World Cup. So the Norwegian hopes should be on her teammate Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold today. Juni Arnekleiv should also be interesting. The 23-year-old was only nominated shortly before the World Championships, but was already able to show good results in the top 15 during the sprint and the pursuit. Also not at the start is Elvira Öberg.

13:57

The favourites

In the race over 15 kilometers, not only does good mileage count, but above all performance at the shooting range, since one minute is added to the time for each missed target. As a result, there are always big surprises in the individual. But Julia Simon is likely to start the race as the big favourite. The French is one of the strongest shooters in the field and was on the podium in the last individual before the World Championships. Lisa Vittozzi, who had to miss the pursuer due to illness, also has to be considered. But it should also depend on how the Italian recovered. The strong Swedes around Hanna Öberg also want to get involved.
