Biathlon live ticker: World Championship relay mixed 4x6km in the live ticker

5:35 p.m

1. Change

Germany and France come together for the first change. It is now Philipp Nawrath’s turn for Germany, France is relying on Quentin Fillon Maillet. After 15.2 seconds, Switzerland followed, putting Niklas Hartweg in second position. Immediately afterwards, Tarjei Bø hands over to his younger brother Johannes Thingnes.

5:35 p.m

Stalder stays there

Sebastian Stalder cannot show the running times of the athletes around him, but Switzerland’s starting runner has also done well so far. Currently we are in third place, just ahead of Norway.

5:34 p.m

Perrot passes by

Eric Perrot passes Justus Strelow and now wants to put pressure on the final lap. But Tarjei Bø is now also gaining steam and has already gained a few seconds. He probably didn’t really like what had happened so far.

5:32 p.m

2. Shooting

Was that it for Italy? Didier Bionaz has real problems in the standing position and he goes into the penalty loop twice! Samuelsson also had problems for Sweden and ended up needing three spare rounds until all the targets fell.

5:32 p.m

2. Shooting

The second shooting is coming up! Can Justus Strelow get five shots on target again quickly for Germany? Yes! He gets through it quickly and goes into the final lap first! Perrot also shoots quickly and scores, pushing past Norway, for whom Tarjei Bø needs two spares. Stalder claims third place for Switzerland.

5:30 p.m

Bø catches up

Tarjei Bø picks up the pace and ensures that Norway’s gap to Germany shrinks to 2.6 seconds. Stalder, for his part, is now traveling with Perrot. Austria is in 16th position and still has a big gap of almost half a minute.

5:28 p.m

Strelow holds the gap

Justus Strelow is keeping the gap on the route and has only lost a little towards Tarjei Bø. Stalder has lost something for Switzerland and is now 7.5 seconds behind. Perrot, who moved France up to sixth position, caught up.

5:26 p.m

Bitter start for hosts

For the hosts, however, the home World Cup gets off to a bitter start. Michal Krcmar cannot avoid the penalty loop and is already a minute behind in second-to-last place. Only the Korean team was weaker.

5:26 p.m

1. Shooting

It’s time for the first shooting. Justus Strelow starts quickly and slams all the windows in quickly. Stalder also comes through cleanly for Switzerland! This means that the two are back on the track in first and second place. Behind them are Norway and the US team. Komatz, on the other hand, needed three spares and the French starting runner also needed three spares.

17:24

Strelow works his way forward

Justus Strelow has worked his way forward in the large group and is in fourth position shortly before the first shooting. Switzerland and Austria are now also at the forefront.

17:22

Deep snow

Due to the warm temperatures and heavy rain throughout the day, the athletes will have to deal with a relatively deep track in some parts. Didier Bionaz from the Italian relay team took the lead in the first few meters.

5:20 p.m

The starting signal has been fired!

The starting signal has been fired and in heavy rain the starting runners of the 25 relay teams set off for the first six kilometers. Tarjei Bø is on the trail for favorite Norway. France and Italy start with Eric Perrot and Didier Bionaz. Switzerland relies on Sebastian Stalder, while Justus Strelow should get Germany on track. Austria starts with David Komatz.

5:12 p.m

What’s going on for Switzerland?

It will be exciting to see what Switzerland can deliver today after the team put in an excellent performance in Antholz with fourth place. Sebastian Stalder will start the race here. He will be followed in second position by Niklas Hartweg. Lena Häcki-Groß will take part in the first women’s part, before Amy Baserga will finish the show.

5:07 p.m

Austria also with a failure

The ÖSV team also had to cope with a failure in the first competition of the World Cup. Missing here is Lisa Hauser, who will only arrive today due to a cold and is hoping for the sprint on Friday. David Komatz, Simon Eder as well as Tamara Steiner and Anna Gandler will make up the relay, but are certainly only considered to be outsiders.

5:02 p.m

DSV team without Doll

In the German team, Benedikt Doll was struggling with a cold at an inopportune time, which is why the veteran arrived late for the World Cup on Tuesday and will not run all the races. However, the mixed relay with Justus Strelow, Philipp Nawrath, Franziska Preuß and Vanessa Voigt is still well positioned and could definitely compete for medals.

16:57

Norway favored

Norway recently secured the World Championship title in the mixed relay four times in a row. Accordingly, the biathlon nation is once again highly favored today. The start of the relay this year is with the men, where the Norwegian relay relies on Tarjei Bø and Johannes Thingnes Bø. Karoline Knotten and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold were placed third and fourth. France is also among the top favorites with Eric Perrot, Quentin Fillon Maillet, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and Julia Simon. Italy and Sweden are also certainly worth paying attention to.

16:49

Weather as a big challenge

The biggest challenge at the World Championships could be the weather. In Nove Mesto there are spring-like temperatures and one route could only be prepared with artificial snow. The first training session on Monday had to be canceled because the track was damaged by plus temperatures and strong winds. However, according to the IBU, the implementation of the World Cup decisions is not in danger because the arena’s snow depot is large enough to improve the route.

16:43

Season highlight in Nove Mesto

For the biathletes, the world championships are the big highlight of the winter from February 7th to February 18th in Nove Mesto. The first of twelve sets of medals will be awarded today in the mixed relay. The first athlete will take to the track today at 5:20 p.m.
