6:03 p.m

Dale-Skjevdal concedes a minute

Johannes Dale-Skjevdal could be a threat to his great compatriot, but the Norwegian makes a mistake in the third shooting. And just under a minute is missing from the top.

6:01 p.m

The defending champions are on track

Johannes Thingnes Bø makes an announcement in the last shooting, puts down all the targets again and only missed one shot today. Combined with the running strength of the defending champion, that should result in at least one medal.

6:00 p.m

Missed shot by Kühn

There will be no medal for Johannes Kühn either. In the second prone position, the Bavarian made a second mistake and came through with a deficit of a good two minutes in the timing.

5:59 p.m

Rastorgujevs misses medal

Meanwhile, ski hunters are already at their last shooting. Andrejs Rastorgujevs missed a shot there that could cost him the medal.

5:57 p.m

Burkhalter scores

Joscha Burkhalter kills all targets while standing. After a mistake in the first shooting, the Swiss placed 23rd for the time being.

5:56 p.m

The next Norwegian

Johannes Dale-Skjevdal is involved in the Norwegian medal fight. The second shooting also worked perfectly, giving him the interim best time.

17:54

Doll continues to shoot strong

Then Benedikt Doll works on a strong competition. The 33-year-old also cleared everything in the third shooting. In terms of running, however, he cannot keep up with Johannes Thingnes Bø and is four seconds behind him in second place. Roman Rees delivered his first zero-error series at this point.

17:53

Horn hits

Now we look at the fourth German starter. This is Philipp Horn, who doesn’t allow himself to be weak in the prone position and ranks sixth in the timing.

17:51

Third shooting

In the meantime, athletes are already in their third shooting, which again takes place lying down. Although there are good performances here now, at this moment Johannes Bø is putting everything in the shade. All targets are falling, the defending champion is one minute ahead – with the same shooting performance ahead of Andrejs Rastorgujevs.

5:49 p.m

Kühn and Tarjei Bø each receive one minute

Johannes Kühn missed his second shot while standing, making his first mistake. Immediately afterwards, Tarjei Bø is in a hurry, but overdoes it a little because one target remains black. Nevertheless, it is enough for third place in the interim rankings.

5:47 p.m

Giacomel misses

Tommaso Giacomel throws away the good starting position in the standing position with three missed shots. This throws the Italian back almost to the end of the rankings. A little later, Martin Ponsiluoma completed his second shooting, after which he had already captured a total of three minutes.

5:46 p.m

Three Norwegians are already in business

In the first shooting, the Norwegians have a second iron in the fire with Johannes Dale-Skjevdal. After five goals he is only just behind Tarjei Bø.

5:44 p.m

Doll scores again

While the defending champion can easily get a penalty lap, it is more difficult for most others. In this respect, Roman Ress is hurt by another missed shot. Things are going better again for Benedikt Doll, who shows his second zero-error series and is seven seconds ahead of Johannes Bø.

5:42 p.m

Johannes Bø is far from defeated

Brother Johannes is already standing shooting and is about to do one of his famous rapid-fire shots. No disc dares to resist. The Norwegian has already run out of the penalty loop and is taking the lead at this point. Niklas Hartweg, still flawless, comes through in second place, but is already almost half a minute behind.

5:40 p.m

Tarjei Bø takes the lead

Back to prone shooting! Here Johannes Kühn fights for zero and does so successfully. On the way back to the track, he was just a second and a half behind Tommaso Giacomel. Shortly afterwards, Tarjei Bø is there, kills all targets and takes the lead.

5:38 p.m

Second shooting

Meanwhile, Quentin Fillon Maillet is back at the shooting range, now working standing up. A shot was denied, which gave the Frenchman the third penalty minute. In total, that might be too much.

5:37 p.m

Giacomel with a new best time

Benedikt Doll doesn’t enjoy the lead for long, because now Tommaso Giacomel shows no weakness in the prone position, paints all the targets white and is a good three seconds ahead of the Germans.

5:35 p.m

Doll shoots perfectly

Then Benedikt Doll knows how to please. The 33-year-old safely knocks down all the targets, is then 1.3 seconds faster than the timekeeper and sets the new best time. The Swiss Niklas Hartweg is a good four seconds behind in third place.

5:33 p.m

Bø and Rees with one minute each

Johannes Thingnes Bø gets to work just a little quicker. The defending champions also really want to score, but only do so four times. A little later Roman Rees is there and misses the first shot. Because of the penalty minutes, both of them have to line up further back.

5:32 p.m

Samuelsson with a miss

Then it goes wrong again. Lukas Hofer and Sebastian Samuelsson both missed their third shot. The conditions for shooting are really good. And the athletes don’t go to work hectic either. Everyone fires calmly and carefully.

5:30 p.m

First error-free shooting

Vytautas Strolia from Lithuania and Andrejs Rastorgujevs from Latvia do better afterwards. Both give up. The latter sets the new benchmark for timing.

5:29 p.m

First shooting

And Quentin Fillon Maillet is already setting up the prone position as the first shooter of the competition. The Olympic champion leaves two targets untouched, which means a heavy burden for his future race. The two penalty minutes are serious.

5:26 p.m

Rees slowly, Bø quickly

While Roman Rees takes a more cautious approach and loses almost ten seconds in the first 800 meters, Johannes Thingnes Bø is on the same level as the previous leader from France.

5:25 p.m

First intermediate times

On the route, Quentin Fillon Maillet sets the standards for the time being and sets the interim best time. Lukas Hofer is not far away, the distances are still manageable.

17:23

The first Bø starts

Niklas Hartweg is now on the road. Then the first Norwegian follows. Once again Johannes Thingnes Bø is the big favorite. The reigning world champion and 2018 Olympic champion is pushing hard. Immediately afterwards it is Roman Rees’ turn.

17:22

Eder on the way

Simon Eder, the Italian Lukas Hofer and Sebastian Samuelsson are now making their way one after the other. As usual, the big names get to work early on.

5:20 p.m

begin

At this moment, Olympic champion Quentin Fillon Maillet opens this individual competition. A total of 101 athletes want to take on the challenge. With starting intervals of 30 seconds, it will take a good 50 minutes until all the ski hunters are sent on their journey.

5:10 p.m

Favorites

Of course others are preferred. It will be difficult to get past the Norwegians and they can send six people into the competition. Defending champion Johannes Thingnes Bø (start number (9)) has a personal right to start. The strong World Cup results ensure another starting place. And so the top 6 of the overall World Cup are all at the start here and each of them has what it takes to win at least a medal It’s difficult to name an athlete of another nationality who can interfere. In recent years we would have thought of Swedish and French names. In the sprint and pursuit, Sebastian Samuelsson, who was strong at the start of the season, showed his form is improving again. However, the French are currently missing the stability to be able to reliably pick one of the men – even if Éric Perrot and Quentin Fillon Maillet contributed to the gold medal in the mixed relay.

5:00 p.m

Stalder and Hartweg as Swiss hopefuls

The Swiss are better positioned, a top 10 result is definitely possible, even if that didn’t work out in the sprint and pursuit at this World Championships – including for Niklas Hartweg (start number 8). The best Swiss this winter is Sebastian Stalder (14). Thanks to his four single-digit placements, the 26-year-old is ranked fourteenth in the overall World Cup. Joscha Burkhalter (38) and Jeremy Finello (79) are unlikely to rise above marginal status.

16:51

Bad prospects for Austria

The Austrians have not been very competitive so far this winter; there have been no single-digit placements. Simon Eder (start number 4) is still the best placed in the overall World Cup in 30th place and may be able to make a difference based on his experience. Furthermore, it would be okay if Felix Leitner (34), David Komatz (71) or Magnus Oberhauser (91) made it into the top 20.

16:42

German quartet

Roman Rees (start number 10) will be used for the first time at this World Championship. The 30-year-old from the Black Forest won the individual race in Östersund at the start of the season at the end of November and celebrated his first World Cup victory. Shortly afterwards, Benedikt Doll (12), a two-time season winner (sprints) and the best-placed German in the overall World Cup (8th), starts the race. Johannes Kühn (22) recently came third on the podium in the shortened individual in Antholz. Fourth in the group is Philipp Horn (48).

16:32

singles

In difficult snow conditions in Nové Město na Moravě, the long edge is of course a very special challenge. The actual shooting-heavy form of competition could also be something for the very strong running athletes. There are five four-kilometer laps to be completed, between which the shooting is lying down, standing, lying down, standing. Accuracy is necessary because every missed shot results in a minute being added on the spot.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the men’s individual World Cup decision! The live ticker begins in good time before the start of the competition.
