The Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo once again crowned Julia Simon’s already outstanding biathlon career. The Frenchwoman won silver in the mass start and gold in the individual, mixed relay and women’s quartet. Now the 29-year-old has made it clear that she is still not full.

Julia Simon finished the 2025/26 season as the second-best French woman in sixth place in the overall World Cup, but the ten-time world champion was the most successful representative of her colors at the 2026 Olympic Games. Now Julia Simon made it clear in an interview with “AFP” that she is still far from being of the opinion that her trophy cabinet is full enough.

After the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, she was “tired and exhausted,” but “never felt so carefree,” said Simon.

A feeling that could happen to her again after the 2030 Games in her home country. Because Simon confirmed that she “definitely” wants to continue her career for another two years, but is also looking at starting in 2030. “These games in 2030 are an event that excites me. I can imagine it better now. It makes you dream,” enthuses the overall World Cup winner for the winter of 2022/23.

“At the moment I love biathlon too much”

Experiencing the Olympic atmosphere in front of a French audience is unique “and it could be a good time to close the circle,” says Simon, indicating that their plans could well extend beyond the winter of 2027/28.

However, Simon also admits that the competition in the French women’s team is enormous and that it is anything but easy to continue to prove yourself in the World Cup team.

Simon also emphasizes that she doesn’t want to close any doors for herself in the future and doesn’t rule out the desire to have children, “but at the moment I love biathlon too much and haven’t achieved everything I want to achieve yet,” said the Frenchwoman.
