The second German biathlon guard performed strongly on the first weekend of the year at the Samse Biathlon National Tour in France. Although it wasn’t enough for the DSV offspring to win, the young team still collected some top results.

The new year has started promisingly for the young German biathlon talent. At the stop of the Samse Biathlon National Tour in Prémanon, Sophie Patz, Alma Siegismund and Lukas Tannheimer set a few exclamation marks.

A total of four sprint races were on the program on Saturday and Sunday. On the first day, Siegismund, one of the German guest starters, moved far forward. The 20-year-old took a strong sixth place in the 7.5 km race after a flawless performance at the shooting range.

Jeanmonnot doesn’t let anything burn

As expected, the victory went to the heavy favorite Lou Jeanmonnot, who, despite two shooting errors, crossed the finish line with a lead of 21.6 seconds over second-placed Namou Candau Armand (zero errors).

Three other DSV athletes were also at the start: Patz, Karla Gehrmann, Lea Zerrer and Leni Dietersberger. They finished 14th, 17th, 25th and 28th.

Meanwhile, Frenchman Leo Carlier won the men’s sprint on Saturday. From the German team, Karl Schütze was the best-placed in 12th place. Hannes Lipfert, Lukas Tannheimer, Korbi Kübler, Luca Anding, David Fehling and Clemens Böhme crossed the finish line in 16th, 21st, 22nd, 26th, 31st and 35th place.

Tannheimer narrowly missed the podium

Tannheimer in particular presented a significantly improved performance on Sunday. Here he narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. Bitter for him: In the second stop he made two mistakes and thus wasted his chances of a podium place. Victory was secured by Quentin Fillon Maillet, who was unbeatable despite a shooting error.

Kübler, Schütze, Lipfert and Anding more or less confirmed their performances from Saturday and landed in places 19, 20, 23 and 34.

From a German perspective, the women’s sprint on Sunday was the best race of the weekend. Patz, Zerrer, Dietersberger, Gehrmann and Siegismund all ended up in the top 15. Patz was the best of the DSV team in sixth place. Zerrer (7th) and Dietersberger (9th) also ended up in the top 10.
