After a hugely disappointing season so far, Norway’s biathlon star Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold is worried about taking part in the Olympic Games. Her coach is in good spirits, but doesn’t want to give her a starting guarantee just yet.

Six starts, no podium, no top 10 and only once in the top 20: Norway’s biathlon star Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold’s season has so far been a disappointment. Last year, the 29-year-old had already fallen far short of expectations – also due to health problems. In recent weeks, however, their crisis has taken on completely new features.

According to her own statement, Tandrevold now even fears for her Olympic ticket. “First of all, I have to make it to the Olympics. At the moment that’s not guaranteed,” she answered in the “TV2” interview when asked whether she was already focusing on the season highlight in February.

Biathlon star currently without an Olympic ticket

The 2025/26 season has so far been exactly the opposite of what she had “hoped for, dreamed of and expected,” the four-time world champion drew a sobering conclusion. “But I try to learn as much as I can from it. That’s better than painting everything black.”

Norway’s coach Sverre Huber Kaas made it clear to “TV2” that Tandrevold’s worries are not entirely unfounded. He emphasized that they wanted to go to the games with “top 10 runners”. “And right now we have two to four people who are close.” Tandrevold is not one of them (yet).

Kaas continued: “I can’t choose an Olympic team at the moment, but with the experience that Ingrid has, everything should go well. But at the moment we can’t nominate her yet.”

In order to regain her form, Tandrevold will take some measures in the next few weeks leading up to the Oberhof World Cup. “I’m going up high to get good training and shoot at a difficult shooting range,” she announced, not wanting to leave any stone unturned so as not to miss the Olympic train.
