Doll best DSV starter

Benedikt Doll (0/2/1/1) was penalized for four minutes, but thanks to his good running form he still moved up to twelfth place. “Of course, when you start, you also want to collect points“, said the 31-year-old, who didn’t want to miss the race.

Justus Strelow (0/0/1/1) also had a good race and took his chance to present himself in the World Cup. Despite 22nd place, the 25-year-old from Saxony was not completely satisfied with the race: “The altitude hurt me too much.” His conclusion: “Not outstanding but solid.”

Zobel sees the race as a lesson

The former junior vice world champion David Zobel (2/2/0/0), who is considered a great talent and will be going to Beijing as a reserve skier, received two penalty minutes in each of the first two shooting stages. But then the 25-year-old from Upper Bavaria remained flawless. “I was really nervous today,” he explained afterwards. He was particularly annoyed by the “stupid mistake“In the first shooting.”Overall it was a biathlon lesson for me,” said Zobel.

Lucas Fratzscher (2/0/2/1), who was not included in the Olympic team, missed a total of five targets and received five penalty minutes. The 27-year-old missed out on the top 50. Marco Groß (0/2/0/1), son of Olympic champion Rico Groß, made his World Cup debut without a single penalty and finished 65th.

Not all stars at the start

Not all the stars are gathered at the last World Cup before the highlight of the season. Preparing for the upcoming Winter Games (February 4th to 20th) is a priority for many athletes. Erik Lesser and Philipp Nawrath also skip the competitions in South Tyrol because of the training management. Philipp Horn had to pass at short notice due to gastrointestinal problems.
