After the previous incidents, the hospital, in consultation with the mayor and the police, tightened security and installed camera surveillance. The hospital does not want to say anything about further measures. “For us, the safety of patients, employees and local residents is our top priority. We are now taking measures for this together with the police,” said a statement.
The Red Cross Hospital in Beverwijk calls the explosion “a serious incident” and takes it “very seriously”. After the explosion at the hospital, which is known for the Burn Center, three people had to be checked because they had inhaled smoke. Further treatment was not necessary.
Employees took action themselves to extinguish the resulting fire. The fire brigade came to help them and quickly had the situation under control.
It is still unclear who caused the explosion and why.
