Betting, Odds, Nations League: Serbia-Norway

Off to the third edition of the Nations League. Serbia face Norway: kick-off on Thursday 2 June at 8.45pm. After avoiding relegation to League C thanks to goal difference, Stojkovic’s national team restarts from Belgrade in group B4. Rounding out the group are Slovenia and Sweden. Solbakken’s side have clinched promotion from the third league and are returning to the field after failing to enter the play-offs for Qatar 2022.

Last November Mitrovic’s goal in the 90th minute against Portugal gave Serbia direct qualification for the next World Cup. Stojkovic’s national team overtook Hungary in a friendly match in March and lost 3-0 to Denmark. Norway, on the other hand, finished in third place the qualifying round for Qatar 2022, -3 from Turkey then defeated in the semifinals in the play-offs, precisely against Portugal. Haaland and his team-mates won the recent friendlies in March: 2-0 against Slovakia, even 9-0 against Armenia.

There are just two precedents between Serbia and Norway. The most recent was the one in the playoff semifinal for qualifying for Euro 2020: victory of the Milinkovic-Savic group, the second goal of the biancoceleste midfielder in extra time was decisive. In regulation time the match ended 1-1: the Lazio player and Normann scored. Then Serbia lost the playoff final to Scotland on penalties. The first match between the national teams is a friendly match in 2006: 1-1 in the 90th minute. So far Norway have never overtaken their opponents.

There are four commitments scheduled in June for all national teams. The last two Nations League matches are scheduled for September to make room for the World Cup in winter. The final stages of the competition involving the top finishers of the four days of League A will be played in June 2023. The format of Euro 2024 has not yet been confirmed. It will later be announced how to qualify for the play-offs via this year’s Nations League.
