Better than planned: Gerry Weber reduces losses

According to preliminary figures, the fashion manufacturer Gerry Weber performed significantly better than planned in the 2021 financial year. According to the announcement on Thursday, the company, based in Halle in East Westphalia, achieved an increase in pre-tax earnings (Ebitda) of between 25 and 30 million euros. Less a bridging aid in the corona pandemic of 29.1 million euros, the business result is better than the forecast minus. According to the planning, this should be in the low double-digit million range.

The company with the other brands Taifun and Samoon generated sales of around 260 million euros in the past financial year. In the comparison period and the first Corona year 2020, Gerry Weber still posted a loss of 65.4 million euros after insolvency proceedings concluded at the end of 2019 with sales of 278.2 million euros.

The company intends to present the final business figures for 2021, which was also still heavily influenced by the corona pandemic, and the forecast for the current year on April 29. Around 2,200 employees work for Gerry Weber worldwide. (dpa)
