In 2025 the international fashion company Bestseller celebrates its 50th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, a design competition is organized, in which international design students: inside and talents are invited to design a capsule collection that interpreted design for five decades.
Since the foundation of bestsellers in 1975, fashion has been a reflection of change – a constant evolution of style, trends and self -expression. New clothing styles have been created, while trends and looks have been freshly interpreted again and again. With the organization of a design competition, the company now wants to take a creative look at the fashion scene of the past 50 years.
“From the beginning, closeness was one of the cornerstones of bestsellers. We have always been driven by the firm conviction of how important the proximity to our customers: inside, college: inside, partners: inside and last but not least to the product is what we want to celebrate with this competition. We look forward to seeing how design talents are inspired by our creative heritage and bring it to life in contemporary and future fashion, ”says Louise Sylvest, CPO and Head of Bestseller Identity.
Bridge between then and now
The design competition is carried out by the fashion brand Selected that creates modern clothing for women and men. The label hopes for contributions that correspond to the focus of Selected for quality and Scandinavian design and at the same time take aspects of durability and sustainability into account.
“We are looking forward to different interpretations of specific features from the past 50 years of fashion history that are reinvented with a contemporary perspective. We hope that the collections will tell a story that beats a bridge between then and now and creates connections over time. How do you recognize the heritage of fashion and at the same time defines the design of tomorrow? We look forward to the answers of the talent, ”says Magnus Löppe, Design Lead at Selected.
International promotion
The main prize is 5,000 euros, the second and third place are endowed with 3,000 and 2,000 euros each. . In addition, the finalists are invited to two visits to Denmark: the first time to meet the Selected design team and experience everything a global fashion company is. The second time to present your designs in front of experts: inside and members of the top management of bestsellers. The competition is open to young talents from all over the world.

“The history of bestseller, which started with a single clothing store on the west coast of Jutland and is now 24,000 college: in the inside around the globe, is a great memory of the fact that everything is possible with passion and the right product. With this competition we hope to open doors to the next generation of creative talents and give them the opportunity to take their first steps in the fashion industry and share their vision, ”says Louise Sylvest.
- Graduate: Inside and Student: Inside in the last study year (BA or MA)
- Independent designer: inside that have been running their own company for a maximum of two years
- People with a professional or personal relationship with bestsellers cannot take part in the competition
