Best Song Oscar goes to Naatu Naatu

As every year, the 95th Academy Awards not only honored the best films or actors of the year – the best song is also honored with its own category. This year, “Naatu Naatu” was able to assert itself. Featured on “RRR,” the song by MM Keeravaani and Chandrabose is a rousing song whose energy was felt in the live performance.

During the acceptance speech, the composers remembered a song by the Carpenters – they quickly rewrote the song “Top of the World” for themselves. A total of five hits from top-class films were nominated for “Best Original Song” at the Oscars 2023:

  • “Applause” from Tell It Like a Woman; Music and lyrics by Diane Warren
  • “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick”; Music and lyrics by Lady Gaga and BloodPop
