In view of the current development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the online fashion retailer About You SE & Co. KG is dispensing with its About You Fashion Week (AYFW) fashion show event in Berlin, which is planned for March. “In the past few days, Abou You has carefully evaluated all options and identified the postponement of AYFW as the best solution for all parties involved,” the company announced on Tuesday.
“At the current time, a defuse of the situation in March and further measures cannot be foreseen,” explained Abou You in a press release. The safety of everyone involved has “top priority”, and the e-commerce specialist wants to “create planning security for its event partners and sponsors at an early stage”. With the early cancellation of the spring edition, the company also “created the necessary framework conditions for the autumn / winter 2022 season to realize an even more spectacular and outstanding event and thus be able to build on the success of the previous AYFWs”.
Julian Jansen, Director Content at About You, explained the decision and the further plans: “In January 2021 we implemented the AYFW as a pure production, which worked very well. In September we were able to realize the shows again with a limited number of visitors and once again noticed that for us the AYFW should be a live experience for all fashion fans that makes fashion tangible on location, ”he explained in a statement. “Since we are currently not responsible for this due to the Covid pandemic and the safety of everyone involved is our top priority, we now had to act and have decided to suspend the AYFW in March and come back even larger and, above all, more international in the fall.”
