► The killer Nikolai G. (18), who came from Wilmersdorf, had bought three guns in Austria a week before the crime. Two found investigators at the scene, plus 150 rounds of ammunition. The third weapon – a rifle – was secured by the Austrian police in the room that the gunman had rented.

► Nikolai G. took a taxi to the scene of the crime and put a sports bag with the weapons in the trunk.

It is still unclear whether he was specifically targeting the biological student (23), who was shot in the head, or whether the young woman from Landau (Rhineland-Palatinate) was a random victim.

The “Zeit” reports that the perpetrator had contacts with the right-wing extremist party “The Third Way”. Investigators found his name on an older, internal party list.

A police spokesman did not want to confirm this when asked: “There is currently no evidence of a political motive.”
