From August 25, seven Berlin line buses will run through Drenthe and Groningen. Qbuzz has taken over the buses from the Berlin carrier BVG.
The buses, ten years old, do not just come from the German capital to both provinces. “By expanding the timetable, several buses that need to be maintained and delayed delivery of zero emission buses, we have purchased these buses,” says a spokesperson for carrier Qbuzz.
However, buses from Berlin cannot just be used in Drenthe and Groningen. In Berlin they have a German license plate, no card readers for the OV chip card and there is ‘BVG’ instead of ‘Qbuzz’ on the buses.
With regard to the renovation of the buses, Qbuzz keeps other standards after the client’s public transport office Groningen Drenthe, after questions from RTV Noord. Qbuzz wanted to use the buses ‘virtually inappropriate’, says Rosalinde Hoorweg, director of the public transport agency. “We did not agree with that.”
