Berlin and Paris are talking about global procurement of ammunition for Ukraine

PARIS (dpa-AFX) – Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) discussed possible global procurement of ammunition for Ukraine with her French counterpart Stéphane Séjourné. This became known on Tuesday from delegation circles after a meeting between the two in Paris. Accordingly, there were good and trusting discussions about how Germany and France could support Ukraine with concrete steps. Opportunities to counteract attempts to destabilize Moldova were also discussed. After the meeting, Baerbock wrote on X: “United and determined: together we are strong.”

The recent disagreements between Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and French President Emmanuel Macron may also have played a role in the conversation. Scholz recently defended his line not to send soldiers to Ukraine. He was reacting to an advance by Macron, which made people sit up and take notice when he did not rule out such a deployment of Western ground troops./bk/DP/nas
