Berlin: 88:63 at Lyon-Villeurbanne: Alba gets its first away win in the Euroleague

As of: January 12, 2024 11:16 p.m

The basketball players of Alba Berlin achieved their fourth win on matchday 21 of the Euroleague. The capital club won the basement duel at Asvel Villeurbanne after a good performance with 88:63 (41:37). This meant that the Berliners were able to overtake the French in the table. The best throwers were Sterling Brown and Yanni Wetzel with 13 points each.

Coach Israel Gonzalez was still without Louis Olinde and Ziga Samar. Justin Bean returned to the team. The development player Martin Hermannsson, who was signed from Valencia during the week, is not expected in Berlin until the weekend. The Bundesliga home game against Würzburg on Sunday will probably come too early for the returnee.

Alba defends well

Alba got off to a good start against Asvel and was able to gain seven points. Then the French found their way into the game better, but scored poorly from outside, and the Berliners led 41:37 at the break. Alba stayed focused, continued to defend well and extended the lead after the break. Unlike in previous games, this time the Berliners were able to avoid a slump in the game.

Alba continues on Sunday, January 14th (3:30 p.m.), with a home game in the Bundesliga against the Würzburg Baskets.
