Tottenham Hotspur has extended the expiring contract with midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur in the long term. This was announced by the Londoners on Friday without responding to the new term in the working paper of the 28 -year -old Uruguayer. Bentancur was previously one of the most valuable players worldwide with the end of the contract next summer with a market value of 30 million euros.
“I feel really good and am very happy to continue my story with this fantastic club,” said Bentancur in a statement on Friday. “My family is happy, I have fantastic friends and teammates who work hard every day. I love this club and really feel comfortable here. The winning of the Europa League was a fantastic moment, and we want to build on that to win over further titles. We have a new head coach, a new captain, and I would like to enjoy in this club for many years.”
Bentancur switched from Juventus Turin to the Spurs in January 2022 for 19 million euros, for which he has contributed nine goals and eight templates in 122 games since then. Between February and October 2023, he had to expose due to a cruciate ligament tear. Under the new coach Thomas Frank, the 72-fold national player is on the six or the eight-almost always alongside summer access João Palhinha (30), who came from FC Bayern and immediately established himself as a top performer.
