The respected author Benjamin Zephaniah has died after being exhausted by a serious illness.

Writer and poet Benjamin Zephaniah has died at the age of 65. The artist’s close relatives will inform about it on his Instagram account.

In that publication, the author’s close relatives reveal the man’s cause of death.

– We are saddened to announce that a beloved husband, son and brother has died on the morning of December 7. Benjamin was diagnosed with a brain tumor eight weeks ago, the update reads.

– Benjamin’s wife was by his side during the situation and at the moment when he died. We shared him with the world and we know how many will be shocked and saddened by this news, the article adds.

In their publication, the relatives also praise Zephaniah’s successful career in writing, music, and TV and radio work.

– Benjamin left us a joyful and fantastic legacy. Thank you for your love, Professor Benjamin Zephaniah, the update reads at the end.

The best-known works of the British author of Jamaican background include, among others Refugee Boy, Face as well as his biography Benjamin Zephaniah: My Story.

Zephaniah’s work had a great impact on Jamaica in particular. The artist has been praised for bringing Jamaican literature to British culture. In 2008, The Times magazine ranked the artist 48th when it listed Britain’s most significant post-war writers.

In addition to his career as a writer, he worked as a musician and actor. Zephaniah was seen among other things Peaky Blinders series in 2013-2022. He played a character named Jeremiah Jesus in the hit series.
