This year, the Flemish government is allocating 158,500 euros for the structural support of 26 animal shelters in West Flanders. The recognized reception centers ensure a variety of animal species, from cats and dogs to reptiles and even fish.
“Animal shelters do fantastic work, also in West Flanders,” says Minister Ben Weyts. “They provide neglected and abused animals, if no one else wants to do it. Until recently they received no structural support. I am happy that we have changed that and that more resources are available today.”
