Ben van der Burg and Leontien van Moorsel were deeply in love with each other in the past. He couldn’t even sleep because of the feelings he had for her. “Did you do it too?”

The general public knew nothing about it, but that is now over: Ben van der Burg and Leontien van Moorsel share a special past. Thomas van Groningen points this out The Orange Sunday from yesterday, where he is the stand-in Hélène: “That romance between you two: what’s the story behind it? Have you had something or not?”

Deeply in love

Ben agrees. “We were deeply in love and that was how long ago? 1990 or 1989. A very long time ago. Then we were really deeply in love. Do you know that? That you can’t sleep.”

Then to Leontien: “That is quite striking, because how often after that time have you… Yes, your husband of course, logically. Have you been as in love after that, over the past thirty years, after marrying your husband, as you were the first time?”

Leontien laughs uneasily: “What should I say? He’s absolutely right!”

Intimacies

It was intense, says Ben. “We were in love and at one point Leontien played sports, I played sports, and yes, then things fell apart.”

Rutger Castricum then asks: “But wait a minute: have you done it too?”

It leads to laughter from both Ben and Leontien. In other words: they were in bed together. Ben: “No, you’re not going to ask anything about that kind of intimacies!”

Glasses

Rutger finds it difficult to imagine a horny Ben. “No, but I am thinking in such an image. I can still see you lying there, but you are on top of it!”

Thomas: “But did he keep his glasses on or not?”

Ben concludes: “I didn’t have glasses then! Then I still had hawk eyes!”

RTL Tonight

What is Ben doing at the table at De Oranjezondag anyway? Isn’t he exclusively associated with RTL Tonight? “I received the signature on Friday that I will no longer have exclusivity from April 1. That’s nice.”

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker: “Does that also save money or not?”

Ben: “No, it just stayed the same. It’s nice, because you naturally get calls from editors asking: ‘Is that exclusivity real or not? Is that really necessary? Can’t you talk about another subject?’ No, that wasn’t possible the whole time, because I was sitting there.”

Something strange

Thomas finds it striking. “Something strange is going on, because all those other people who were brought in by RTL, they didn’t let go! They only let go of you!”

Ben: “They’re happy to get rid of me! That’s it! They’re very happy, yes!”

Thomas: “What does it say?”

Ben concludes: “I don’t know. The others may not have asked or indeed: they are happy to get rid of me.”
