Ben Healy had several things to look forward to in terms of sport this year. Now he has also experienced a beautiful event in his private life. His girlfriend accepted his marriage proposal.

It was a successful sporting year for Ben Healy. The cycling star won a stage of the Tour de France and was then allowed to wear the yellow jersey. He described the success as a “fairy tale”. He also won a stage in the Tour of the Basque Country and the Irishman secured bronze in the World Road Race Championships. Now the next highlight followed – privately, he got engaged to his long-term partner.

Martha Brasenell shared this with Healy on Instagram. The couple is currently on vacation in South Africa. The romantic moment took place in Kruger National Park following a safari, snapshots show.

Brasenell shared a series of photos with her followers. In the first picture she can be seen with the cyclist, both wearing beige safari outfits and holding a glass in their hands. In the background you can see a dry but idyllic savanna landscape. If you look closely, you can already see the ring on Martha Brasnell’s finger.

In the other pictures, the newly engaged woman shows impressions of the national park, including a photo of lions and then a snapshot of the moment when Healy asks for Martha Brasenell’s hand in marriage. She commented on the scene with the words: “I got a stone on a stone.” By the first “stone” she means the diamond of the ring, by the second the stone on which she was standing at the moment of the proposal.

Not only fans but also professional cyclists like the American Neilson Powless commented on the post. Healy’s teammate from the “EF Education-EasyPost” team said: “Congratulations.”
