“Belong in the league” – Viktorias Gunte convinced of staying up

Viktoria Berlin is confident in the last two games in the relegation battle of the 3rd division. “Everyone is convinced that we can stay up and beat any opponent,” said defender Tobias Gunte before the home game against Saarbrücken on Friday (7 p.m.).

In the last two games against MSV Duisburg (0:1) and Würzburger Kickers (0:3), Viktoria missed two good chances to break away from the relegation zone and take a big step towards staying up in the league. With that, the team of trainers stands Farat Toku now under a lot of pressure.

“It would certainly have been great for the heads. But now we have to counteract it and then win the last two games,” said the 25-year-old defender.

The pressure has increased before the two home games against Saarbrücken and on the last day against SV Meppen. “Now it’s time to keep up the intensity, get six points and hope that East Westphalia don’t win their last three games,” said Tobias Gunte.

Above all, the home-grown player got over the defeat in Würzburg, which he described as “actually the easiest game”. “I myself was convinced that we can and must win the game. You could see that in large parts, but the last pass was missing. We have to work on that. The approaches were the right ones,” said Gunte.

The 1.94-meter-long professional is encouraged by the surprising 2-1 victory at the beginning of the month over 1. FC Magdeburg, who have been promoted since last Sunday: “If we can steal the points from Magdeburg, we belong in the league.”
