Belgium defeated Canada 1-0 in their first match in Group F at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In the first 30 minutes of the match, Canada played an effective game against Belgium. Pressing in the front area and not allowing Belgium to make an easy play, Canada was effective around the opponent’s penalty area with its fast players.
Canada won a penalty after Belgian player Carrasco intervened in the penalty area in the 9th minute. Canada failed to take advantage of a penalty shootout with star player Alphonso Davies. In Davies’ penalty, Belgian goalkeeper Courtois reached to his right and did not allow the goal.
Belgium, who recovered in the last part of the first half, tried to take control of the game by passing.
BELGIUM’S WINNING GOAL IS FROM BATSHUAYI
The European representative scored in the fast attack that developed in the 44th minute. Batshuayi, moving to the ball sent by Alderweireld to the back of the defense, vented the nets with a smooth shot from the left diagonal in the penalty area: 1-0.
Batshuayi, who also scored 1 goal in the 2018 World Cup, enjoyed a goal for the second time in the World Cup.
ATIBA AND BATSHUAYI IN THE TOP 11
Besiktas’s Atiba Hutchinson in Canada and Fenerbahce Batshuayi in Belgium started the game in the first 11.
Atiba was replaced by Ismael Kone in the 58th minute of the fight. Batshuayi, who scored against Canada, came to the side at 78, while Lois was included in the Open.
Sam Adekugbe, a football player from Hatayspor in the Canadian squad, replaced Laryea in the 74th minute of the match.
Former Beşiktaş player Cyle Larin, on the other hand, was included in the game in the 58th minute of the match, where he was among the substitutes in Canada.
ATIBA IS THE SECOND OLD PLAYER
Atiba Hutchinson, who plays for Canada, became the second oldest player to play in the World Cup, excluding goalkeepers, by playing against Belgium.
The record in this field is held by Roger Milla of Cameroon, who played in the 1994 World Cup, at the age of 42.
