Belgian record winner EuroMillions has twenty weeks to make itself known: “Anonymity must now be guaranteed” | News

A Belgian participant has won the EuroMillions jackpot of no less than 174.9 million euros. This makes it the biggest Belgian winner ever. The winning numbers were 2 – 7 – 23 – 44 – 46 and the two stars 3 and 5. The winner has twenty weeks to announce themselves. “His or her anonymity is now paramount,” says Stephanie Deleul, spokeswoman for the National Lottery.

174,984,088 euros. That is the exact amount that a Belgian participant can receive, a record amount for our country. For the time being, nothing is known about the place of residence or the age of the lucky person.

“I can’t tell you anything about that,” said Deleul. “What is important to us now is to guarantee the anonymity of the winner. He or she can contact the ‘Big Winners Cell’ and it will then be determined at a later stage whether anything can be announced. The procedure must be followed as best as possible to protect that person.”

The winner now has twenty weeks to announce themselves. “He or she has already done that for the same amount of money, I don’t know that myself. Afterwards we will have a conversation to see, for example, whether we can communicate in which store the jackpot fell. In a small village we are of course more careful with that information, the safety of the player comes first. I hope we can say something at a later stage, but I cannot guarantee that.”

The previous record was held by a fellow countryman who won 168,085,323 euros with the draw on October 11, 2016. That colossal amount then went to a street sweeper from Brussels.

Another well-known Belgian EuroMillions winner is the group of café friends from Zingem (Kruisem) who won 123.5 million euros last January. In December 2022, the Kempen town of Olmen (Balen) suddenly became nationally known as ‘the millionaire’s village’, when 165 people together became 132 million euros richer.

The largest pot ever – 250 million euros – fell three times in 2025 and was won by an Irish, French and Austrian participant.
