The photo appeared via social media and was picked up by French -speaking Belgian media. “This was a big mistake, but one without political or ideological meaning,” responds Dalne (26). According to him, the photo was taken a few years ago during a scouting camp. During a ‘much too drunk’ evening, he and others caught the Swastikavlag, which was meant for replaying historical events.
“I was hazing. And I ended up in my underwear with that flag on my back,” explains Dalne. “At the time, we received a strict reprimand of the camp leadership and immediately apologized.”
Dalne is on behalf of the Liberal Party MR in the Nivelles City Council, just below Brussels.
