The minehunter was previously active in the Baltic Sea, but is being repositioned. After a short stopover in Zeebrugge, the ship now heads to the Mediterranean to participate in NATO operations.

The ship will be stationed in the wider area of the Strait of Hormuz and must be ready if politicians require it. “The mine hunter can detect, identify and neutralize mines,” says naval commander Tanguy Botman.

Two weeks

The distance to the danger zone remains considerable. “Depending on the position, the journey can take another two weeks,” says Botman.

The Primula left together with a Dutch mine hunter. “We have been working with the Dutch Navy for thirty years. We do a lot of things together,” Botman concludes.
