Belgian Cat Julie Van Loo stays in Russia

The sports world is also feeling the consequences of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Belgian Cat Julie Van Loo from Deerlijk herself plays in the Russian basketball competition. She is active in the club Krasnoyarsk, a city in Siberia.

It is not an easy period, but for the time being Vanloo will remain in Russia, she tells on Radio 1. “Life goes on here as usual and I feel safe. But there is also a lot of uncertainty, the home front is worried. Fortunately, I get a lot of support from my teammates and coach.”

“In addition, leaving also has a number of financial consequences,” explains Van Loo. “When you leave the country, I will break the contract with my club. A hasty decision can therefore have major consequences.”

Van Loo is in close contact with the other three Belgian Cats who play in Russia, Hind Ben Abdelkader, Kyara Linskens and Emma Meesseman. They will also remain in Russia for the time being.
