Belgian Blue Blood. Visiting the moated castle of Laarne: “If you don’t have a staff, you become the slave of your castle” | Belgian Blue Blood

RoyaltyAt his birth, Jonkheer Paul de Pessemier ‘s Gravendries (70) had no double name or title. But because of his exceptional commitment to – among other things – the restoration of the castle in Laarne, King Baudouin raised him to the peerage in 1989. “I have to admit that someone put in a good word for me,” he says in a conversation about 10,000 steps a day, hereditary titles and the remarkable moated castle where he lived for thirty years. “Looking back, I can say that we made superhuman efforts.”
