Nearly two decades after the Olympic Games and 12 after the World Cup, China’s capital will host athletics stars: an event that will follow next year’s World Indoor Championships in Nanjing. “Congratulations to Beijing on its successful bid,” said World Athletics President Sebastian Coe, “12 years after our athletes lit up the National Stadium for the 15th edition of our world event.” The last edition of the world athletics championships was held in Budapest last August, while Tokyo will host the 2025 event.
