Childhood and youth
Gein grew up on a farm in Plainfield, Wisconsin. The family, who were religious and valued strict upbringing, lived largely isolated from the rest of the world. Gein attended a local school, but was punished by his mother if he tried to get to know other people at school. Gein later told detectives that he and his older brother were abused by the father of the family.
Gein’s father died in 1940 of a heart attack. Brother Hugo died four years later. There has been speculation about the brother’s death that Gein might have been involved in the unclear events. However, Gein never admitted to his brother’s murder. Gein’s mother had a serious heart attack shortly after the incidents. Gein took care of his mother until she died of another heart attack in 1945.

Arrest and conviction
Gein’s atrocities began to come to light in the 1950s when a local hardware store owner By Bernice Worden disappeared in 1957.
The tracks of the disappearance led to Gein’s door. The police found the body of the owner of the hardware store, as well as body parts of other people in Gein’s home. Gein had used the remains of the bodies to upholster furniture and also made clothes out of them. Gein admitted to killing three people. He also admitted to robbing at least nine graves.
Ed Gein’s atrocities became public and shocked the American people. PDO
Gein justified his actions with motherly love and the fact that he wanted to feel more like a woman, and he thought he would achieve that feeling by wearing women’s skin as clothes.
Gein was sent straight to a mental hospital during the 1968 trial. He died in a mental hospital almost 20 years later. Gein was 77 years old at the time of his death. He was buried next to his mother.
The new series published by Netflix has some discrepancies with the truth. According to People magazine, the Netflix series shows, for example, relationships between Gein and women that do not correspond to reality. For example, Gein had no relationship with his victim, Worden.
