National soccer player Giulia Gwinn says she has a long-distance relationship with goalkeeper Constantin Frommann.
“We met in Freiburg. And I can still remember when he told me he was going to Meppen,” said the FC Bayern Munich defender in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”. “I didn’t even know where that was at first. I was really shocked that it was almost Holland.”
The 24-year-old Frommann played for the third division club SV Meppen last season. He has also played for the German U20 national team. 23-year-old Gwinn is part of the German squad for the European Championships, which begin in England on Wednesday. Both once played at SC Freiburg.
Gwinn has more than a quarter of a million followers on Instagram and is considered one of the most popular German footballers. Goalkeeper Almuth Schult once described her in an interview as “the prettiest” in the DFB selection. “The saying that I’m the prettiest still comes around today in the team circle,” said Gwinn. “But it doesn’t mean bad, and there are much worse terms or nicknames. Then I’d like to be ‘the prettiest’.”
