On Tuesday, FC Bayern will play in Cyprus in the Champions League. The team bus had difficulties on arrival.

Shortly before FC Bayern’s Champions League duel with Pafos FC, there were apparently problems in Cyprus: the Munich team bus got stuck on Friday in the port of Limassol-reason was an indefinite strike for customs officials. This reported the news portal “Kathimerini Cyprus”.

Because the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium of the Cypric Master is not approved for the “premier class”, the game will be held next Tuesday (from 9 p.m. in the T-Online Liveticker) in the Alphamega Stadium in Limassol. On the way there, the Bayern bus got into the blockade. Who was on the bus is unclear. The team itself defeated Werder Bremen in the evening in the local Allianz Arena 4-0.

The background of the strike is the introduction of the new “Automated Import System” (AIS), which is scheduled to start on September 29. According to Christos Akaros, the chairman of the customs agent association, the employees are insufficiently trained, and the system does not work without errors. “In order for us to work, our demands have to be met,” he explained “Kathimerini Cyprus”.

The protests had started on September 24 with a warning strike and were transferred to an indefinite blockade the following day. Terminal drivers Eurogate now warned of bottlenecks because the storage areas in the port could soon be busy. Currently only perishable goods such as fruit and vegetables are being handled.

Two production vehicles for the TV broadcast of the game are also said to have been affected. According to the Pafos International Supporters Group on X (formerly Twitter), the vehicles later received a special permit. So far, there is no official confirmation.
