Wervik, where the bee symposium continued, is part of the West-Flemish cross-ventrican plan, which has been around for a year now. Municipalities exchange knowledge through this plan and organize actions to help bees. But the city also takes concrete measures, such as sowing flower mixtures and less mowing. That sometimes criticizes.

“Some find it sloppy when the grass is not mowed briefly,” says Bercy Slegers, ships of environment and nature in Wervik. “But we notice that people are starting to appreciate it more and more. It is important to find a balance. For example, we can also mow a strip next to the paths and leave the rest.”
