Because of the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada, the Bundesliga will not play its first matchday in 2026 until the last weekend in August.
The DFB announced this. Accordingly, national football in Germany starts on August 7, 2026 with the start of the 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd league.

The first round of the DFB Cup is on the new calendar for the weekend of August 21st – 24th. A week later 828.-30.) the Bundesliga also starts the new season.
Winter break ends on January 8th
The Bundesliga’s winter break begins on December 21st and ends on January 8th, 2027. The 2nd Bundesliga takes a break from December 21st to January 15th. The season ends in the three highest leagues on the weekend of 22/23. May.
