NAC took the lead just after half-time through a goal by Juho Talvitie on a pass from Maximilien Balard and subsequently did not relinquish it.

NAC also had a good chance of an opening goal through Sydney van Hooijdonk at the start of the game. Van Hooijdonk headed the ball against the crossbar.

The match in Breda started about five minutes later than planned due to fireworks. NAC was eliminated from the cup earlier this week by Heracles Almelo (1-4).

Telstar – Excelsior

Telstar and Excelsior both retained a point from the mutual match in Velsen. The two low-ranked clubs did not get further than 2-2. Three penalties were awarded during the match, one of which was converted.

Excelsior is in fifteenth place with 10 points. Telstar has 2 points less and occupies seventeenth position.

Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp scored Telstar’s opening goal in the second minute, after which Tyrone Owusu made it 2-0 within half an hour. Arthur Zagré made it 2-1 from the penalty spot before half time.

Telstar also received a penalty after an hour, but Danny Bakker failed from eleven meters. Fifteen minutes later, Excelsior received its second penalty, but this time Zagré shot wide. Excelsior made it 2-2 a little later through Gyan de Regt. The attacker scored after a nice action by Derensili Sanches Fernandes.
