Beau van Erven Dorens is receiving an avalanche of criticism because of a column in which he writes about the flight to his winter sports destination. “This is completely unbelievable!”
He actually prefers not to fly because of the environment, but Beau van Erven Dorens recently flew to Geneva to go ski touring in Chamonix, France, he writes in his AD column. Normally he prefers to travel by bus or train. “I think that’s a better trip and it feels better now that the earth is warming so fast.”
Funeral
Now Beau was on the plane after all and he was very annoyed by the short stretch of business class that you have to travel to get to economy class. “What always strikes me when I walk past this elite is that these people look differently than the people in the second class, at the back of the plane. To put it simply: everyone looks like an earworm.”
The RTL 4 presenter gushes: “I sense passive aggression in many of the looks: Why are you bothering me here in my luxurious cabin! Don’t look at me! Do you even know who I am? Get away to your cage in the back, where you belong. Man man, what a bunch of gloomy creeps together. Maybe they are all on their way to the same funeral?”
Elite
The priority position of people in business class bothers Beau incredibly. “After landing, the so-called elite are the first to walk away. I watch them with pity. Soon they will have to stand with us again, at the baggage claim. You can hardly help but feel sorry for them.”
Um, elite? Isn’t multi-millionaire Beau with his Amsterdam canal house just that himself? “Beau goes skiing and takes the plane to Geneva, which is an easy drive. He follows the well-known covering routine and the man of 5.5 million goes crazy with ‘creepy mouths’ in business class. Let’s see what a good person he is,” he sneers. Xinfluencer MiesBee.
Unbelievable
TV critic Victor Vlam thinks this is a clumsy column. “Beau wants us to believe that he is a man of the people. This was completely unbelievable,” he writes on X.
And Quote journalist Martijn Zeven on the social medium: “Strange column. Beau’s family has been part of the Dutch elite for centuries. Beau himself too. He is the elite he writes about. But apparently he wants to belong to the readers of his newspaper: the ordinary people. Strange phenomenon.”
Huge shit
Beau is also tackled by NoStyleespecially by the ‘responders’. “He is the elite himself, and also a millionaire. What a huge jerk, quite nice in itself, but the question is whether he plays it (I think so) or does not realize it himself,” someone writes.
And another: “I think he’s a nice guy. But it surprises me that he doesn’t realize that he himself is quite elitist.”
