VZV suffered a heavy defeat against Costa del Sol Malaga last night. The first leg in the last sixteen in the EHF European Cup was lost 35-19. The return will also be played in Spain tomorrow.
Title holder Costa del Sol Malaga immediately showed that it is a size too big for the handball players from ‘t Veld. Within nine minutes, the Spanish women were leading 7-1. Halfway through, the margin had already increased to fifteen points: 22-7.
In the second half, VZV could keep up better. Costa del Sol Malaga managed to make one point more than the North Hollanders after the break. In the team of coach Rolf Schulte, Maud Kruijer, Silvana Koppe and Demy Worst became top scorers with four goals.
The return in Malaga will start at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
