Be careful on the road: risk of slippery conditions due to icy conditions

The KNMI is warning this morning until 9 a.m. with code yellow for slippery conditions due to light winter precipitation. It can become treacherously slippery because the snow, or rain, ends up on the frozen surface.

At the end of the morning the temperature rises to about 7 degrees, which reduces the risk of slippery conditions. According to NH weatherman Jan Visser, the temperature will rise slightly further during the day, to about 10 degrees tonight. It may rain occasionally this afternoon.

Storm Isha

The KNMI also has this for tonight code yellow issued, for heavy gusts of wind from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. Storm Isha can cause wind gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour on the coast. The wind comes from a south-westerly direction. The KNMI calls on people to be extra alert, drive slower and keep a greater distance from other road users.

At the end of the night and beginning of the morning, storm Isha reaches its peak. According to Visser, the wind will decrease during the morning and it will be around 12 degrees. It may also rain heavily tomorrow.

High water levels

Due to the expected storm, there is another chance of high water levels. As a precaution, several locks closed due to the predicted southwest storm. The Water Board expects that the locks will not be opened again until Tuesday.
