Unlike in game one of the semi-final series of the BBL play-offs against Bonn, this time FC Bayern Basketball leaves no doubt about the balance of power. The game is decided before the break.
The FC Bayern Munich basketball players didn’t let anything go wrong in the second game of their semi-final in the BBL play-offs against Baskets Bonn. Coach Svetislav Pesic’s team clearly beat the guests from the Rhineland on Monday evening with 91:69 (23:15, 27:12, 20:27, 21:15) and took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. This means that only one win separates the FCBB from reaching the final round.
Bayern pull away early and give Bonn no chance
After the narrow victory in the first duel on Saturday evening, Bayern quickly made things clear this time. An 11-0 run in the middle of the first quarter gave Andreas Obst a comfortable ten-point lead.
Bonn kept the deficit between eight and ten points for a long time, but an 18-0 run in the second period finally put Bayern on the road to victory, as the fourth-place team in the regular season reduced the gap by seven points in the third quarter, but was no longer within striking distance, so Bayern confidently brought the game home in the final period.
Rathan-Mayes impressed with 20 points
The top scorer of the match was Bayern’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes with 20 points, with the Canadian converting eight of his 16 attempts from the field and contributing three assists and two steals. Munich native Oscar da Silva also impressed with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Alijah Comithier stood out for the guests with 18 points, five rebounds and three steals. The American received support from Joel Aminu, who put up 16 points and three steals. Game three takes place on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Bonn.
