BBL: medi Bayreuth celebrates third home win in a row

medi Bayreuth achieved a surprisingly clear success in the BBL over the Hamburg Towers. The Upper Franconians prevailed against the Hanseatic League with 90:71 (49:34) and celebrated their third home win in a row. It was the third loss in a row for the Towers.

Although Bayreuth had to play without three regular players, they dominated the first half. In a strong second quarter, the hosts scored 31 points and were temporarily in the lead by 20 points.

Bayreuth countered a brief urge from Hamburg in the third round, and in the final section they were constantly in the double-digit lead. Martynas Sajus dominated the zone, hitting every one of his ten shots from the field and scoring 21 points.

The Niners Chemnitz defended their fourth place in the table with an 81:66 (30:35) away win against the MLP Academics Heidelberg. After the Heidelbergers were the better team in the first half, the guests got the momentum in the third round with a 19:2 run. 51 points after the break were the key to Chemnitz’ 13th win of the season.
