The constantly struggling runner-up Alba Berlin defeated BBL leaders Bayern Munich with a committed performance. Four teams now have the same record at the top.

Alba won the prestigious basketball Bundesliga duel with 88:81 (37:47). The double winner from Munich gave up a temporary lead of 25 points and thus missed out on extending his lead in the table. After their second defeat in a row, Bayern have a record of 9:4 wins and are now at the top with three teams tied on points.

In contrast to the double winner, Berlin is happy about only its second win from the last eleven games and is keeping its hopes for the play-ins (top 10) alive in 13th place. Alba center David McCormack and Bayern’s Devin Booker were the best scorers with 20 points each.

Bonn wins clearly, Ulm narrowly prevails

In a duel between two teams that follow immediately behind the top quartet, the Baskets Bonn managed to set an example. The Löwen Braunschweig, fifth in the table, had a clear 94:74 (54:47), which allowed the Baskets to move up to sixth place. Phlandrous Fleming Jr. was the dominant player on the court with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

ratiopharm Ulm had already put pressure on the front runner on Saturday. The Ulm team narrowly won 92:89 (48:48) at the MBC from Weißenfels and caught up with Bayern with nine wins and four defeats. The best throwers were Ulm forward Karim Jallow and Weißenfels guard Michael DeVoe (19 points each).

Victories for Rostock and Chemnitz

The Rostock Seawolves have achieved their third win in a row. Head coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz’s team beat Rasta Vechta in the duel for the play-in places with 87:83 (37:40).

In the third game of the day, the Niners Chemnitz made up ground in the fight for the playoff places. Five days after the 82:72 victory in the Central German derby against MBC, the Saxons celebrated their second victory in a row. Against the severely weakened Frankfurt Skyliners there was a clear 85:66 (48:27).

Würzburg defeats Göttingen

Like Ulm, the Würzburg Baskets celebrated their ninth win of the season in the Bundesliga on Friday and are now in fourth place in the table. Coach Sasa Filipovski’s team prevailed in a hard-fought game 79:78 (42:36) against bottom team BT Göttingen.

The best thrower for the baskets was Owen Klassen with 15 points, while Tra Holder impressed the guests with 17 points. While Würzburg is establishing itself in the top group, the situation for Göttingen is becoming more and more threatening. With just one win from twelve games, the club remains in a relegation zone.
