Bazofi begins: the anti film festival

For more than a decade the Bazofi it was consolidated as the cinematographic meeting of rarities and unremembered classic jewels of the seventh art. His mentor, the renowned film restorer and teacher Fernando Martin PenaI position the proposal as an alternative and a way of seeing a different cinema.

A special feature of the cycle is that the dates always coincide with the most prestigious festivals in the country. The BAFICI or the Mar del Plata International Film Festival are the circumstantial victims of the film buff meeting that will take place from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 26th November, in Malba (Av. Figueroa Alcorta 3415).

As usual, the Bazofi screenings will run exclusively on 35mm film prints. On this occasion, it has the collaboration of the Night Film Clubadding the Core Film Club (offering footage from director Otto Preminger), to the delight of viewers. The France embassywith him Institut Français d’Argentinewill also collaborate for the exhibition with magnificent copies of some imprescriptible classics.

The opening of the meeting will inaugurate “The fan”the adaptation of the literary work of Oscar Wildebrought to the big screen by Otto Preminger. On the same day, the French film will continue “Zero in Conduct” by Jean Vigo and the class B sci-fi movie “The beast from another planet” of the filmmaker Nathan Juran.

During the cycle you can view the classics “Crime on the Orient Express” by Sidney Lumet , Halloween by John Carpenter, Wild at Heart by David Lynch, Straw Dogs by Sam Peckinpah,“The Cursed Fortress” by Michael Mann Y Navajo Joe by Sergio Corbucciamong other remembered pearls of classic cinema.

The closing of the Bazofi will take place on Saturday, November 26, at 9:00 p.m., with the screening of “Jason and the Argonauts”. The classic 1963 film, directed by Don Chaffey and that has the contribution of the great animator Ray Harryhausen., is one of the most appreciated works of adventure cinema by fans of the event.
