Offensive player Georgia Stanway from the German Double winner FC Bayern is back in the squad of the English national football team.
The 26-year-old stands in the line-up of the European champion for the Nation’s League games against Portugal on May 30th and three days later in Spain. For the Munich women, Stanway has not yet run up again since their knee surgery after an outdoor tape tear in January.
In addition to her, Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood also give their comeback at the Lionesses after long breaks and interventions on the knee. The trio can thus have legitimate hopes to also stand in Switzerland in the squad of trainer Sarina Wiegman at the European Championship (2nd to 27th July). England meets France in Group D, the Netherlands and Wales.
Unlike Stanway, striker Hemp (24) and defender Greenwood (31) were recently on the pitch at her club Manchester City. Wiegman has to do without attackers Lauren James (23) from the English champion FC Chelsea, who has suffered a thigh injury. New is a defender Ella Morris (22) from Tottenham Hotspur.
