Feyenoord Rotterdam caused a fist -thick surprise in the Champions League. The Dutch threw the AC Milan from the competition.
The Bayern fright becomes a Milan fright: Feyenoord Rotterdam has reached the round of 16 of the Champions League. The team of coach Brian Priske won a 1: 1 (1: 0) in the intermediate round at AC Milan and thus prevailed after the 1-0 win in the first leg with 2: 1.
For Feyenoord, which had hit FC Bayern 3-0 in the group phase of the premier class, the game in the Milan Giuseppe-Mazza Stadium even started in a very unfavorable manner. After just 36 seconds, the home side took the lead and equalized the result from the first game. Santiago Giménez was a scorer. The Argentinian was only changed from Rotterdam to Milan for 32 million euros in winter. Accordingly, Giménez then cheered on the goal against his former employer.
As a result, Milan missed a second goal. The three-time Champions League winner left the best options in the first round. Among other things, Théo Hernández only hit the post (23rd minute).
Even at the beginning of the second half, Milan missed the 2-0. Then a stupidity of Théo Hernández changed the game. The French defender had already seen the yellow card and then let himself be carried away into a clear swallow in the penalty area of the guests. The result: yellow-red for Hernández.
From then on, Milan was outnumbered. Feyenoord initially knew little about the overweight. Then Hugo Bueno had a flash of inspiration, flank butter -soft into the center, where Julián Carranza headed for the acclaimed compensation (73.).
Feyenoord did not play his counter afterwards, but Milan could not capitalize on it. So it remained 1-1 – and that led to the surprising departure of the Italians.
