Thomas Tuchel has been in office as head coach at Bayern for almost two weeks, succeeding the previously dismissed Julian Nagelsmann. According to Matthias Sammer, ex-sports director of FC Bayern, an understandable personnel decision by the Munich club bosses.
The 55-year-old, who was the youngest coach in Bundesliga history with Borussia Dortmund to become German champion almost 21 years ago, explained his view of the coaching debate at Munich before FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City.
“Julian Nagelsmann is an absolute expert. But he was still very young for the Herculean task at Bayern Munich, where everything has to be perfect immediately in terms of leadership and feeling. He can’t do that yet,” said Sammer, who is currently a is an external consultant for BVB and is used as a TV expert for “Prime Video”.

“The fact is that a young coach reaches his limits in such a constellation. At some point I was allowed to be a coach in Dortmund at the age of 32 and I think to myself today: Oh my God,” explained Sammer, who became a European champion in 1996 as an active player was.
